I recently purchased Kershaw's greatest hits album and thought that the songs "The Riddle" and "When a Heart Beats" sound strikingly similar to Level 42-type songs. The liner notes on the album did nothing but summarize his career to date, and mentioned nothing of his Level 42 influence. As an interesting side note, I heard a rumor that Peter Cox, lead singer of the former group Go West (my favorite group, also!) is working with Kershaw on a solo album. Isn't it interesting that all three groups are now sort of inter-connected! The reason I chose to post my letter to the digest rather than privately, is because I'd enjoy hearing from other Go West fans that are out there, and if anyone knows of a similar Go West digest, discography, FAQ, newsgroup, etc.? I really enjoy the Level 42 digest, and I want to commend all of my fellow readers on their exceptional taste in music! Because I don't want to clutter up the Level 42 digest with Go West stuff too much, if you wish, any responses can be made to me privately. It was listed in Terry Ross' "The Pursuit of 42" Fanzine, with lots of other little tidbits of info, such as Level 42 were cutting a demo for the next James Bond movie (which never happened because of all the mix-up and change-over to the new Bond, and the killing of the most recent project at that time because Timothy Dalton just wasn't cutting it as Bond), plus a supposed demo floating around with alternate lyrics to Running In The Family. Can anyone confirm any of this, or is this just a matter of rumor to everyone else too? BTW, I was up late last night, and the 1987 movie Hot Pursuit (starring John Cusack) was on. Anyone recall what L42 tune was used in the final credits? Okay, that was an easy one. How about this: What Irish film were L42 featured in, playing Love Games as a live act in a Dublin night club (and boy, was Mark workin' the angry thumping for the cameras!). If no one gets them, I'll post the answers tomorrow.
