I thought it was time to come out of hiding again and say how much I've enjoyed all your posts over the last month or so... To recap for the demographics list: I am: Jodi, 29, white, female, singer/songwriter currently employed at Harvard University (but only until June 30! YAY!), graduated from Tufts University way back in 1987 (ouch), loved Level since 1985...Fave songs include Good Man In A Storm, It's Over, Children Say, Hours By The Window, Last Chance, Out of Sight-Out Of Mind, Kouyate, Lasso The Moon...and my absolutely new fave One In A Million. I'd have to say that World Machine is my fave album 'cos it was my introduction to the band, but Forever Now is *really* growing on me. I taped the cd and I've been listening to it in my car for the last two weeks. The part of the tape where Romance, Billy's Gone, One In A Million and The Sunbed Song are is getting *really* worn out! I also listen to bands like American Music Club, Morphine, the Liberty Horses, and Toad The Wet Sprocket (!), artists like Seal, Des'ree, Kate Bush, and Annie Lennox (who I would like to be when I grow up!). I'm still listening to a lot of 80's pop/r&b stuff like Tears For Fears and Simply Red too. BTW, does anyone out there remember the band Danny Wilson? I saw them open for Simply Red back in 1987 (? 1988?). They put out 2 records to my knowledge. Also, a bit off the subject, but - Mrgdot @ aol a.k.a David, said that he subscribes to a Tears For Fears list. Hey David - would you share the subscription address with me?!? OK - enough. Beware! This is what happens when you don't post for a while! Hope everyone had a good weekend...! BYE! -jodi ------------------------------ From: Crazylips @ aol.com Date: Sun, 4 Jun 1995 19:18:37 -0400 Subject: Misc. Just had to say I finally found the "international" version of World Machine in a Boston used CD store. Holy S**T! Those tracks "missing" from the US version of the album are terrific. I've heard Coup D'Etat before, but only the b-side mostly-instrumental version; not this one. I Sleep On My Heart and Dream Crazy fit perfectly with the rest of the album as well. I'm a happy boy. I am grateful of course to the US version for introducing me to Hot Water...... I was able to obtain the terrific Japanese Forever Now CD when I was in Tokyo last year performing. The extra track Learn To Say No is one of my favorites. My band is currently having a mini 42ish Not-In-America situation. I am the fifth member of the a cappella singing group Rockapella. American 42 list'ers may know us from the PBS tv show "Where In The World Is Camen Sandiego?" and other assorted outlets. We have a good fan base in the USA, but so far no record deal, despite good publicity, songs, and 5 albums in Japan/Asia. I joined the group 2 years ago and this fall I'll be appearing on the PBS show for the first time (...bureaucracy...) . All you New Yorkers are encouraged to attend the next concert Rockapella puts on in Manhattan at The Bottom Line. We play there at least once or twice every 6 months in addition to our other activities and shows. Check the Village Voice concert listings. We'll have a WWWeb page soon, but any a cappella music fans out there can check the very active a cappella newsgroup---- rec.music.a-cappella for all sorts of info. The a cappella music on the latest Doritos tortilla chip ad on television in the states is us, w/ me doing the vocal percussion (the ad features lots of babies in a hospital). L42 has been a massive influence on me and continues to be so! ---Jeff Thacher
