In answer to the query re: the Brits. In the UK, the Brit Awards have received a bit of a bashing, and for good reason. UK Levelheads will recall the Sam Fox/Mick Fleetwood edition of the show, in which the aforementioned were presenters. The whole thing was a dis- aster from beginning to end (and VERY funny! ;-)), so the organisers decided to smarten the whole thing up. It's now very safe, with lots of music industry type (i.e., gits, many of them) in the audience... M People are pretty good IMHO, and cut it live. If you like the Stereo MCs, check out their album `Connected' which is damn funky if you ask me. Their bog hits so far are `Connected' and `Step It Up.' (At least, I think that was the title - haven't got it in front of me). TTFN! Alan Murphy? or just a lyrical device? Anyone?<<< ......That's a real good question. I have no idea who Al is. Never thought it could be Alan Murphy. I'd love to know that one myself. >>> Danny Blume -- Did he play ALL the guitar parts, or are there others? ....<<> Tired of Waiting: Who's singing the "I've been waiting since Midnight, just to give you my insight" part? .....Phil Gould was my first guess. That was Phil's song according to Danny. We know it wasn't Mark's. ---BobC ------------------------------ From: Kim Ivey Date: Sun, 28 May 1995 12:07:26 -0600 (MDT) Subject: Re: Pat Flanagan and Memories Yo Pat! The adverb song is cool! But my favorites are : 1. The Song for the Constitution: "We the People in Order To ... blah blah, blah ... a pretty catchy tune. 2. Elbow Room 3. The Noun Song : " ... a nouns a special kind of word... it's any name you've ever heard" ... blah, blah, blah 4. Interjection Song 5. VEEERRBB! (I'm sure you remember this one ...) 6. The Adjective Song : "Next time you go on a trip ... remember this little hint ...blah, blah, blah" Level Digesters ... forgive me also for using up space on such non-42 stuff. But Flanagan got my toes to tappin' with his little message. Ah, yes ... what fond memories .... Kim P.S. hey, L.K. .... what are your favorites ...? ------------------------------ From: PLFlanagan @ aol.com Date: Sun, 28 May 1995 15:39:53 -0400 Subject: Re: Level 42 Digest, #403 Martin: BAW HAW HAW, that's a good one! One of the things I always liked about these guys -- no matter how serious their music got, you could tell they had a sense of humor. By the way, if you really want to know what they were talking about, I'll clue you in: try gross anatomy. :D ------------------------- Mr. Barfe: Great Letterman quote -- I saw that show. Was that your first exposure to Dave, or do you guys see him regularly (if there is such a thing) over there? I heard their US debut album ("Elegant Slumming"), which was pretty good for jumpy happy disco music (including a great remake of "Don't Look Any Further," a great tune the obscure British band The Kane Gang did a few years back). They have a new album out, but I haven't heard it -- it's received good reviews, though. She's got a great booming diva voice, especially for how small she is (not including her pineapple hairdo, that is). Stereo MCs: They had two US hits around two years back -- Connected (gonna get myself, gonna get myself, gonna get myself connected, I ain't gonna go blind etc.) and Step It Up. Their one album that I've heard was good. Check 'em out. Hope this stuff helps. ------------------------------ Here's a good thread we could start (albeit, non-Level 42): List the three crappiest, most irritating songs currently being played on the radio. My votes: 3. Whatever Real McCoy song is being played (they all sound the same to me) 2. I Saw You Dancing by A-kee-dah (or however it's spelled, I don't know -- what does "say A-kee-dah, my love" mean, anyway?) and... 1. Have You Ever Really, Really Really Ever Loved A Woman (or whatever the hell it's called) by Bryan Adams (what, is he turning into a Mariachi musician, or something?) On the other hand, songs I just can't get tired of hearing: that Dionne Farris song; So High by Des'ree; Runaround by Blues Traveler; What Would You Say by Dave Mathews Band; House Of Stone And Light by Martin Page; Water Runs Dry by Boyz II Men (I KNOW, I HATE THESE GUYS, but song is well written. Wish someone else would have performed it); and the local radio station has put a bunch of Sade songs in rotation. Anything she does is okay by me . TCOY, Pat "My fly's wide open..."
