Forever Now Observations OOOOO -- Memories Linux No, Solaris...YESSSSSS :) CD Europe ------------------------------ From: Kim Ivey Date: Sat, 27 May 1995 10:31:18 -0600 (MDT) Subject: Brit Awards Last night I caught segments of either this years or 94's Brit Awards Telecast on a show called In Concert. There was some humongous group with a female lead singer sporting a big buffont hair style. She sung a duet with Sting on "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free". She sounded like and looked alot like Oleta Adams (that is, if anyone knows who Oleta Adams is). I think they were called M Generation, or something like that. There was a background choir of about 100 people. Can anyone give me any info. on this group? Also a group called Stereo MC's sung this pretty funky tune. I'd like some info on them too. Finally I was wondering: has Level won any Brit Awards? If so ... when, and for what? Also, have they ever performed on the show? And for all you British Digesters ... just how important is the Brit Award? Thanks Kim ------------------------------ From: PLFlanagan @ aol.com Date: Sat, 27 May 1995 13:59:38 -0400 Subject: Misc. Forever Now Observations A short while back, someone (I forget who -- sorry) emailed the lyrics to the Forever Now album. I accidentally deleted them -- could you resend it please? THANKS --------------------- Songs in order of favorite-ness (including some B-Sides I have): 1. Love in a Peaceful World 2. The Sunbed Song 3. Don't Bother Me (if this is a country song, then I'm moving over to country music) 4. Forever Now 5. Talking In Your Sleep 6. Past Lives 7. All Over You 8. The Bends 9. Romance 10. Billy's Gone 11. Model Friend 12. Tired of Waiting 13. Play Me (Not really bad, but that twee French part screws it up) 14. One In A Million 63. Heart On The Line (Get the idea I DON'T like this song?) Please note that songs four through twelve are really kind of interchangeable, as I like them all. ----------------------- Heart On The Line: "So ring a bell for brother Al, he never did no wrong..." Alan Murphy? or just a lyrical device? Anyone? ----------------------- Play Me: Anyone translated that French part? I don't know, I think it sounds pretty stupid, not because it's French, but because of how earnestly it's sung. It sounds like a purposeful attempt to be artful. ----------------------- Danny Blume -- Did he play ALL the guitar parts, or are there others? If you listen specifically to the guitar work on the album, it's superb across the board. If he played it all, he's a damn good guitarist and deserves more work. Listen particularly to: the backing guitar on Forever Now (great chord rhythms!); acoustic work in Don't Bother Me; groovy 70's wocka-wocka guitar in Sunbed Song; hard-edged work in All Over You. This is a great guitar album. ----------------------- I agree with the others who have said that Mike's singing is better in the lower register than the higher. This is one of the reasons I don't care much for One In A Million. No offense, Mike, but it sounds like you're straining a bit too much in some of the really high parts. Compare it to his solo album (what I've heard of it) or stuff like People, Two Solitudes, etc. Lower = better. Not that his falsetto is bad or anything, it's great. Lower still = better, though. ----------------------- Tired of Waiting: Who's singing the "I've been waiting since Midnight, just to give you my insight" part? It doesn't sound like Mike, and it CERTAINLY doesn't sound like Mark. Is this Phil singing, by chance? I know he did backup vocals all through his tenure, but I've never been able to pick him out, as I don't know what he sounds like. Can someone give me some examples to listen for? ---------------------- That's enough for now.
