Hangs, or hung, the moon is a phrase that I think I might have picked up from the Simpsons. I took it to mean that something was so good it was responsible for putting or hanging something as beautiful as the moon in the night sky. Glad someone else likes it too. I am a new subscriber to the list and was wondering if anyone could suggest a few good mail-order places for "hard to find imports and collectors items" Huge Levelhead, as are my friends. Favorite song is Good Man In A Storm, with Over There a close second. I personally have only seen the Live At Wembley video, and am looking for Guaranteed tour video or recordings. Any help would be mucho appreciated! ------------------------------ From: synth @ yuri.abq.nm.us (Synth Oberheim) Organization: YuriNet Amiga Cyberspace Access - "Know Future" Date: Tue, 16 May 95 21:33:23 MST Subject: Re: l42web Zaron writes: > there may be those who will be searching for home pages/chat groups of > their favourite artists that would miss out on joining our group simply > because they do not know we exist and because the Level 42 Home Page > doesn't seem to be listed in the 'Search directory', for lack of a > better term. As Laz pointed out, there are some search engines that don't recognize the Web site yet ... many of those don't accept "submissions", but search the Web for URLs on their own. So it's basically a matter of keeping your fingers crossed. :-( Other databases, though, *do* accept submissions, and I have spread the word on those. I made sure it's listed on Yahoo, and made *doubly* sure it's on the Ultimate Band List, which no music fan should be without -- it's at http://american.recordings.com/wwwofmusic/, highly recommended. Re: Mike Lindup's 'Changes' : I bought my own copy (a cassette) from a local record shop in 1990 or 1991. The edition I have is probably from the first stock of the album, since it was issued in 1990. Jung is in fact not an additional track, but the last track on Side B. The other tracks are in the same order as listed by Alex on the limited edition picture disc, except for Fallen Angel (demo). Jung is the tenth and final track on my edition. I also recall that The Spirit is Free was performed during Level 42 concerts during the Guaranteed Tour. I do not have a video of the concert, but I believe that it is also on the video. Can anyone confirm? Here in Malta, Level 42 is considered as an important band, and record shops always have their new albums within days after their release. The band has quite a local following. The band's exposure on Italian TV has helped a lot, especially when Lessons in Love was released. Between Italian TV and Radio Malta 2 (at the time, only two radios existed in Malta), we use to hear the track about 10 times a day in the Summer of 1986. Since then, Level 42 has been my favourite band. Up to some time ago, I used to manage 'Profile', an instrumental jazz-funk outfit. We were very much influenced by Level 42, especially our 19 year old bass player, who is considered as one of the foremost bassists on the island due to his spectacular 'slapping' fits! There were a number of Level 42 songs which we used to play live, like Mr Pink, Shapeshifter and Something About You (when we introduced a vocalist). Shapeshifter is a truly incredible song, especially the intro. I wonder why it is never mentioned. I invite the keyboard players on the list to get its chord sequence right! We are currently at a stanstill up till next September, when our bassist returns from the States. We plan to record a CD, but of course we need a record company, and we wouldn't like to have a Maltese company. If anyone has any contacts..... Our other influences include Jamiroquai (another great band which is never mentioned on the list), Sade, Simply Red, Sting/Police, Bjork, and as regards jazz we're into John Patitucci, Dave Weckl. John Scophield, Steve Coleman & Five Elements, BrandX and of course Miles, the man. Back to Level 42 : Brent Kroon in digest 387 enquires about CD singles from Staring at the Sun. I'm sorry, I can't help as regards CD singles, but a few days ago I saw the 7inch version of Take A Look at a local shop. It will make a good collectors's item, I'm sure. Anyone interested? Only one copy is left. Also available is the Platinum edition of Running in the Family on CD (eight Malta pounds, about fourteen sterling). I don't know if there are any extra tracks, but I will check the details if there is the demand. Anyway, enough said for today. Regards everyone! Luigi (lpelli @ unimt.mt)
