Hello, It's me again, i'm sorry about the ^H (bad backspaces...) on my last mail, i just forgot to use an editor and so you just can see me when i'm hesitating for writing something :-) Well, for the mailing list thing, i'm affraid that i can't help much, cause i'm not root here, and the only one possibility could be that someone else (a sysop) install the list on his host, i guess that you must have a self made program which catch the mails, put them in a file with a headline, and so on... and after it sends to everyone in a list which is on a file... tell me Eric, what do you really have to do to maintain the list each time ? Denis. ------------------------------ From: Brent Kroon Date: Wed, 10 May 1995 05:24:15 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Religious lyrics, funky drummers, et al.. Greetings, I'm a new subscriber from Seattle. Yeah, we don't only listen to grungy stuff here. Actually, I was thrilled to find this list because sadly there aren't huge numbers of level fans here in the Pac NW. Anyway, a few things: Regarding religious lyrics, it seemes to me that the song "Hours by the window" had some strong religious lyrics in it, kind of a cursing at God thing. Any thoughts? Also, as far as I'm concerned, when it comes to funky drumming, Phil Gould did some fabulous stuff on the World Machine album. Check out "I sleep on my Heart" and also "True Believers" from True Colours. Forever Now, of course, is great as well. Incognito's drummer, whoever he is, is also way funky. One more thing. I'm trying to find CD singles from the Guaranteed and Staring at the Sun albums. Can anyone help me? This may be a little bit controversial but..... The weather in the UK last week was superb and I was wondering....what are people's favourite Level 42 songs to 'shag' to? Nothing like a bit of controversy now and again!!!!! ------------------------------ From: "Friesen, Alex" Date: Wed, 10 May 1995 09:26:14 -0500 Subject: List go Bye-Bye!!?? This potential list demise is sad news indeed. Just when I've discovered that there are other Level headed people left on the planet the rug may be pulled out from under us. :-( Sadly, I cannot offer much in the way of life support as I am limited to an internal email system with just a narrow wedge driven into the Internet. I NEED MY DAILY FIX!! If this list does bite the big one, as it were, I hope the list of subscribers is kept intact. How 'bout sending the subscriber list to Level 42, the fan club, the management company or somebody. Perhaps knowledge of the list's existence would stimulate one of the above parties to provide a platform for our continued existence. ...Alex... Hello All, First of all, Alex Friesen writes: >Track info for Mike Lindup's "Changes" Limited Edition High Definition Picture Disc (Resurgence LV101CD - 1994) Changes, Lovely Day, Fallen Angel, The Spirit Is Free, Desire, West Coast Man. Judgement Day, Life Will Never Be The Same, Paixao. Fallen Angel (demo).....>This is absolutely true, but there is an error. The song "Jung,'' previously a B-Side when the album was first released, is actually on the album - I believe in between Paixao and the demo for Fallen Angel. However, they don't list the song in track listing. At least that's what's on my Changes picture disc! Maybe, I have a messed up copy or something. Also, jacques @ geb.u-strasbg.fr was curious whether Stewart Copeland has a solo album or not. Actually, he has several. His first project was a 1980 release album called Klark Kent, which he (gulp) sings and plays all the instruments - he's always described it as an outlet while Sting was writing all the songs. It's a very likable album and the closest he came to releasing commercial material on his own. Since the Police's breakup (which still hasn't been announced, by the way), Stew has done many film projects - some of which have been released as soundtrack albums. His soundtrack for the "Rumblefish'' soundtrack (actually, he was still in the Police when this was released) received a lot of good press - but that was about it. He did a soundtrack CD of his movie The Rhythmatist (a very cool film). I also have a CD of all his material from the Equalizer televison show. As for Animal Logic, I seem to be in the minority here. I really liked this group. I saw them play live in the Ritz in NYC (met Sting that night too as he was doing the Broadway thing just a few blocks away) and thought it was a fantastic show. I like both of their albums, but not because they were so great rhythmically. Stanley and Stew kinda held back on the jams on both albums, probably in an effort to showcase the songwriting and singing of Deborah Holland. My Level-headed friends, I have some exciting news to report (thought we could all use some of this, especially given the potentially sad news of the possible end of this very forum): I have been named the host of the '80s at 8' radio show on IMPACT 89 FM, WDBM Radio in East Lansing, Michigan. Some of you may recall from a few months back that I did a tribute to the group in response to their break-up on this station (I had asked all of you to vote for the song you felt to be most appropriate for the occasion). Now that I will be hosting the show each week, I will have a nice opportunity to re-acquaint or introduce a potential listening audience of more than ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND to the music of Level 42. There's more good news: It is my understanding that this radio station, which--by the way--is the largest & most powerful of any college radio station in the United States, will soon be broadcasting via the World Wide Web; which means that each and every one of you will soon be able to tune into my show!!! I start this Friday night at 8:p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The show airs until 10:p.m. and can be heard at this time each Friday evening. I also anticipate that I will feature many other artists who we all enjoy on the show. I've already scheduled "Lessons In Love" and Go West's "We Close Our Eyes" for my debut program. I look forward to passing more info along to you very soon, and I certainly hope that this marvellous forum will not disappear the way our favourite group did. You are all welcome to request/suggest any 80s songs for my show; I'd love to hear from each of you!!! Your fellow Level-head, Zaron (The "BIG Z") fruminza @ student.msu.edu
