How did that start? I would guess it's a L42 live tradition... I was listening to the new album this morning and heard the crowd sample in "All Over You" and it was obviously a L42 crowd with the sound of whistles in the background. Does anyone know how they recorded that? You can hear the crowd chanting to the beat of the song, but the song was obviously not recorded live. > after a long and harrowing emotional experience. "World Machine" was my soundtrack album for 1986. "Running In The Family" was my soundtrack album for my sophomore year in HS. "Staring At The Sun" was one of my most-listened to albums in 1988 and the release of "Guaranteed" in 1992 made recovering from being dumped by my last girlfriend that much easier. Right now a cassette copy of "Forever Now" has been sitting in my car's cassette deck continuously for the past 2 weeks. There's "Something About" Level 42's music, I can't really explain. I've said before I first read about the band in a British magazine without ever hearing a note of their music, and when I finally did, it blew me away. And I was even further blown away to hear their other material. I don't know, somehow I could NEVER get sick of listening to Level 42's music. The only thing better would be to see L42 perform live. But I don't know if it will ever happen :( One of these days, hopefully in the distant future, unfortunately there will be no more L42, and no more new albums..., but there will always be that body of music that will live on. I can picture myself listening to, say, "Children Say" when I'm 88 years old. My grandkids might tell me to shut that "ancient stuff" off, but I'll still be listening... I wonder if there will ever be a Level 42 boxed set. I'd pay anything for that (especially if it includes unreleased material). I've never seen it outside of catalogs so I don't know if it just collects a bunch of albums or what. -- Lazlo (lazlo @ xmission.com) // Manager, KLF/Orb/ZTT/Exotic-Vinyl maillists // email majordomo @ xmission.com for list info; // include "info " in message
