Kadel" Date: Fri, 18 Nov 1994 09:55:36 -0500 (EST) Subject: Survey Results Well, folks, the survey results are in. Here's what everyone voted as to the list's favorite L42 songs: Overwhelming vote: "Something About You" (and since the votes were so overwhelming, I won't count it in the top three; it's above the top). 1) Lying Still All tying next) "Leaving Me Now" "To Be With You Again" " Heaven in my Hands" "Love Games" "True Believers" "World Machine" "She Can't Help Herself" "Children Say" "Good Man in a Storm" "Kansas City Milkman" Everything else had just one vote. So as you can see, the results are as varied as the people on the list. But then, what did we expect? Also, re: When New Album?, I did hear that there will be a concert CD from the final tour (this I heard from the folks at Audiophile Imports), but there were not too many details. No release date as of when I talked to them two weeks ago. ************************************************************** * Rob Kadel - Department of Sociology - Emory University * * * * When a man's verses cannot be understood, nor a man's good * * wit seconded with the forward child, understanding, it * * strikes a man more dead than a great reckoning in * * a little room. -- William Shakespeare * ************************************************************** ------------------------------ From: Jonathan E Frumin Date: Fri, 18 Nov 1994 11:53:56 -0700 (MST) Subject: Re: Level 42 Digest, #243 Hello fellow '42 fans! Just wondering, what year was Mike Lindup's "Changes" first released? I seem to recall someone mentioning that it was only recently re-released. Also, was it only released in the UK, or domestically as well? Are a majority of the songs ballads or fast? (In case you haven't guessed it by now, I'm just trying to get a little more info on the album, since I have no way of hearing it before I pay top dollar to get it.) Also, if anyone knows the REAL story behind Seal's scars, please tell me, I've always wondered about them, and am now completely confused!! --Jon Frumin ------------------------------ From: akpaulet @ vt.edu Date: Fri, 18 Nov 1994 13:56:08 -0500 Subject: *Heavy sigh* Oh, *sigh*...All this talk of the band being no more has got me ever so slightly depressed. I guess I'll have to cheer myself up and post my three fave songs like I've _wanted_ to do all week [Collective professors conspiracy: all major papers and projects were due yesterday >: ( ]. Here goes! 3. "The Sun Goes Down" - If you waded through my intro, this is the one I have the earliest memory of: groovin' on the school bus in fifth grade while Radio One was playing. [One moment while Amanda waxes nostalgic...] Goofy daft song, maybe; sentimental value, definitely. 2. "Something About You" - This is my good luck song because I am just _too_ damn superstitious. Somehow this song has associations with the better events in my life thus far, so that's a plus. And my [heathen non-Levelhead] friends know it and like it too and don't ask "What's this Euro-pop crap you're playing?" And #1...[Drum roll...] - "Leaving Me Now" - This song is just genius [but I don't have to tell you all that : ) ]. Beautiful tune, lyrics that are [as my A-Phi-O boy Brian would say] "_fine_like_talc_." Okay, I'm a sucker for weepy, tear your guts out songs, and this one definitely beats all. Runners-up in no particular order are "Lessons In Love", "To Be With You Again", "World Machine", "Lying Still" [damned if I can't find my World Machine tape, though], "Staring at the Sun" [weepy song alert], "Guaranteed", and [to cleanse the palate] "Gresham Blues" [way cool] Anyway, I'll go now; I guess I feel a little better : ) Later, kids! ------------------------------ From: lazlo @ RT66.com (Lazlo Nibble) Date: Fri, 18 Nov 1994 12:35:02 -0700 (MST) Subject: Mike Lindup: Changes > Just wondering, what year was Mike Lindup's "Changes" first released? There was at least one single, for "The Spirit Is Free" > Are a majority of the songs ballads or fast? Ballads. > Also, if anyone knows the REAL story behind Seal's scars, please tell me, > I've always wondered about them, and am now completely confused!! People like to assume they're some kind of "tribal" thing because he's black, but they're just from when he had lupus as a kid. -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo @ rt66.com) ::: Use the Internet Music Wantlists to find rare records and CDs. ::: Email wantlists @ rt66.com with HELP on a line by itself in the message.
