Looks like Mark King's scar is the second-most talked about scar in 
the music business (second only to Seal's lupus scars)...

not to change the subject to Seal, but I thought those scars were an African
ornamental scarification kind of thing ( I think that's what he said in
Spin).

Ahoy:

Sorry for the "tangent", but I originally read in a magazine article
that Seal's facial scars were from some sort of allergic reaction that he
had during his childhood.  This (possibly) concurs with the Lupus story,
but I think that the "African ornification" story is boloney.
