I wonder if someone who has it would be interested in posting a little review of it. I don`t think I have ever heard anyone say weather or not it was any good (I can only imagine that it is). Also, if anyone out there resides in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota area, drop me a line. I'd be interested in meeting sometime. -Darrin Cresswell ------------------------------ From: Taxi Date: Thu, 3 Nov 1994 08:06:58 -0800 (PST) Subject: Re: Level 42 Digest, #232 > As for Mark King's father....hmmm, I didn't see it in the L42 FAQ, so > I'll guess...(hmm, now Mark seems to be a working-class type of guy)... > I'll guess...plumber! Well, I've got the CD single for My Father's Shoes (British Import that I was fortunate enough to find at the local Tower Records here in Beaverton) which contains a brief interview with Mark and Mike at the end. Mark mentions in that interview that the lyrics for MFS were written by "an American," so I don't think that it's too much reflection on Mark's part about his father... :) Taxi ------------------------------ From: lazlo @ RT66.com (Lazlo Nibble) Date: Thu, 3 Nov 1994 09:45:18 -0700 (MST) Subject: Tribute > I will announce the group's recent break-up and will have the > opportunity to play ONE song. Here's his first L42-related post: >Well what can i say Mark King defies all boundries of Bass Playing his >style and singing is in class all of it's own and as for his Bass playing >that will leave you wandering what notes he is using if you have not >checked them out i really recomemend the album LEVEL 42 BEST AND >INFLUENCES THATS Mark Kings solo record so give me you insight as i'm the >biggest L42 fan living......!@#$%^&*() I responded to him by email, and my response was a *bit* sarcastic--I mean, the guy sounds like a total crackpot. But I *DID* tell him about the mailing list, though. Here is his reply (this is where it gets wierd): >Hi jody i'm Jazz yes i'm indeed a big fan of L42 i have seen them many a >time in England and as you can tell the way i talk yes i'm from England >and grew up listening to them ... well no need to join a fan club >i know some of the Band members and am having a speacial Bass made >for me from one of my Best friends called Bernie Goodfellow who is a >Master Luither and the whole group are signing it to me and plus a few >other goodies...so if you need any help finding any of their stuff i have >it and...also Mark King the lead singer is playing a telecaster these days >and may be another tour might be in the works....??? thanks for the E-mail >keep in touch ...nice to see that they are well liked all over the >globe....!@#$%^&*() oh are you a musican if so what instrument do you >play?????? to stay tuned in E or low B ....see yaaaaaaa!!!!!> It would appear that good things happen to those who don't use punctuation. thats why im not using punctuation anymore...hey mark king over here you can send me an autographed bass any day now...well he can be reached at be851 @ freenet.carleton.ca which puts his freenet account in the same city as me but I have a feeling he just telnets in...maybe we should send him some email asking him to tell us some L42 stories i think that would be a good idea well i just thought i'd share this with you all 'cos i've never talked to anyone who really *knows* the band maybe we can get the band to tune in to the mailing list...well that 's all... oh and ....!@#$%^&*().... :-) Regards, Jody McDonnell ------------------------------ From: Jonathan E Frumin Date: Thu, 3 Nov 1994 16:28:33 -0700 (MST) Subject: Re: Level 42 Digest, #232 > From: "M. Greetings Level 42 fans!! Jody, in case you can't convince the record store to order it, try the CD Europe store, on the internet. You can access it via the internet by typing: cdeurope.com at the prompt. I believe they have it, as well as many other obscure and unusual items. What is rec.music.video? I am fairly new to the 'net and don't know how to do a lot yet. Any suggestions on how to access it? Does anyone else know of some other good music info sources on the net? Thanks. Keep listenin' to great music! Regards, Jonathan Frumin Fruminj @ gas.uug.arizona.edu
