CD catalog numbers, anyone? Trivia Question Audiophile Imports & IMPORTANT L42 NEWS! Tribute ------------------------------ From: "M. If it's on ftp.uwp.edu, I may as well just give up, 'cos they are always PLUGGED with anonymous users...:-) ] Could anyone be so kind as to give me the catalog numbers off the spines of the following CDs: FOREVER NOW (looks like this is the only way I can convince the record store that FN does REALLY exist...) FOREVER NOW, Japanese Version (Does this exist? What is on it?) Mike Lindup's CHANGES (re-released version, if possible) Thanks in advance. Oh, and did anyone follow the rather short Level 42 thread on rec.music.video? Apparently there was a Level 4 TV special on TV wherever '.sg' is in the Internet geography. I guess it was a mix of old videos from 'Level Best' and a few newer ones... As for Mark King's father....hmmm, I didn't see it in the L42 FAQ, so I'll guess...(hmm, now Mark seems to be a working-class type of guy)... I'll guess...plumber! Was I right? Raymond King, plumber by day and cabaret musician by night! Let me know when you need my postal address for the purpose of mailing me my prize money... :-) Regards, Jody McDonnell ------------------------------ From: lazlo @ RT66.com (Lazlo Nibble) Date: Wed, 2 Nov 1994 10:13:02 -0700 (MST) Subject: CD catalog numbers, anyone? > [I can't find the Level 42 Disocgraphy. I'm curious to know if there are any women on this digest; before I knew about this digest, the few people that I had met that even acknowledged any interest in the group were of the female persuasion. Also, what is the geographical and demographical makeup of the members on this service? I am a junior at Michigan State University, originally from the Detroit area. Are we all from the U.S.? Any Europeans or Asians? Please identify yourselves! Your LEVEL-headed friend, Zaron (THE BIG Z) ------------------------------ From: eric (Eric J. Hansen) Date: Wed, 2 Nov 94 20:30:32 EST Subject: Audiophile Imports & IMPORTANT L42 NEWS! Hey folks, after someone posted the phone humber for Audiophile Imports, I decided to call them. As it turns out, they have some "affiliation" with the L42 Fan Club. The guy I spoke with urged me to join saying that the club was the best produced he had seen (i.e., quality of newsletters, etc.) Anyways, A.I. had the Mike Lindup "Changes" re-release that I wanted. They also had the following (which I also ordered!): L42: The White Funky (live bootleg) $30 L42: The Early Tapes $24.99 And the following, which I didn't order, but he said were all very good: SFX Featuring Alan Murphy $19.99 (I think the (c) was 1984?!) Jaco J.: Kingdom of Dust "" : Mustard Gas and Roses He really ranted and raved about Alan Murphy, so you Go West fans might want to check this out. He had some info on other L42 matters, too. I guess the plan (according to someone who spoke with Mark and Mike at their "last-ever" concert), King and Lindup are going to embark on more solo projects, and will probably be featured on each other's albums. If this is the case, I _hardl_y think that this is the end of L42. If anything, this leaves open the possibility for some totally *new* directions. I think this is great news - even despite the "official" breakup of L42. Oh - there will also be a double CD which was recorded live during their Forever Now tour (yeah!). And A.I. will also be getting in some Forever Now tour posters and misc. items which I suppose you can call about. The guy at A.I. (didn't get his name - oops) was very knowledgable about Level 42. I told him I was the list administrator for the Internet mailing list, and he said he had heard of it. They're going to get email/Inet access soon (around New Years, he said), so he'll also be on the list eventually. He even corrected me on a few details regarding L42 (I'm embarrassed to say which!) I don't mean for this message to be a big A.I. plug, because I certainly didn't get any sort of discount for posting this... on the contrary, though, how could I _not_ post this info?!?!?! - Eric "88" p.s. He is giving me the privilege of doing a tribute to Level 42's fourteen year success over the mid-Michigan airwaves THIS EVENING! I will announce the group's recent break-up and will have the opportunity to play ONE song. IF YOU WERE IN MY POSITION, FACED WITH THE DIFFICULT TASK OF HAVING TO SINGLE OUT ONE SONG FOR THIS OCCASION, WHICH TITLE WOULD YOU PLAY? I would like each of you to please suggest ONE song (either your absolute favourite or one that you feel especially fitting for this event). I will choose the song which receives the most "votes". I'll suggest one to start us off--my favourite, "Children Say". Please rush your selection to me by 5:00 p.m. Eastern time. Any other suggestions regarding my ON-THE-AIR COMMENTS are welcome!! USE MY PERSONAL E-mail ADDRESS: fruminza @ student.msu.edu Thanks!! Warmest regards, Zaron (THE BIG Z)
