Well, I can't give you any real answers, but that probably lends to the explanation why LIAB's song, "Living In A Box," rips off the bass line to "Hot Water." When I first heard that song, I thought, "Hey! That's 'Hot Water!!!'" Elson ------------------------------ From: PTaylor62 @ aol.com Date: Sun, 30 Oct 1994 15:32:20 -0500 Subject: Hello! Hello everyone! I'm Paul and I've been a fan of Level 42 for several years. The song that really caught my attention was " Good Man In A Storm " from " World Machine ". As a musician, I was impressed with the way Mark King was able to play complex bass lines and sing lead vocals over those lines. And Groove? I have two questions concerning Alan Murphy( former guitarist with Level 42). I had read somewhere that he was involved in a traggic accident and that he had lost his life. There were no details given. Can anyone tell me what, when, where and how this happened? In my opinion he was one of the greatest players of all time. I first heard his work on Go West's debut album ( another great group ). Since then I have searched for other recordings by him but, have had no luck. Can anyone tell me if there are other samples of his work out there and if so where do I find them? I would also like to know if there is any USA tour information available on Level 42 or Go West. Please respond to PTaylor62 @ Aol.Com " Looking forward to the next digest " Sincerely, PT ------------------------------ From: "Zaron Michael Frumin" Date: Mon, 31 Oct 1994 00:06:10 -0500 (EST) Subject: Don't Go Away! Fellow Level 42 Enthusiasts, This morning, our friend, Bob C, informed me of the very distressing break-up of Level 42 as of a couple of weeks ago. I am just hoping that this sad end to an amazing era will not result in the dismantelling of our Level 42 digest. I am very excited at the opportunity for all of us to continue to reminisce about Level 42 and to help inform one another of other artists as we discover them. NO GROUP WILL EVER REPLACE Level 42, of course. But, now that they are no longer recording, I hope to turn to my Friends of exceptional musical taste here on the digest to introduce me to other artists that I may grow to enjoy. I do have another question regarding a recent Level 42 title: I have a CD single of "All Over You" from the UK that contains two versions of a song called "Learn To Say No". Both versions are club mixes. I really like this song and I want to know if any of you know if there is an ORIGINAL or NON-CLUB version of this song. Other than "Play Me", are there any other new songs that I don't know about (i.e., new songs that are not on the UK version of the album _Forever Now_)? Also, DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO CONTACT ANY MEMBERS OF THE BAND PERSONALLY, PERHAPS ON E-MAIL? PLEASE DON'T GO AWAY!!!
