It's sometimes hard to hear what Mark and Mike are singing... I wonder why they didn't include lyrics with the album... (the album I have is an import from the UK) Thanks in advance, Augustin ------------------------------ From: Steve Pearce Date: Tue, 18 Oct 94 9:38:31 BST Subject: The last concert! I was at the Albert Hall gig on Friday, here is a quick rundown... The Albert Hall is an interesting venue, it is shaped like a drum. There is is a flat floor area surrounded by a about 20 rows of seats. The walls are vertical and comprise of private boxes. At the top (at least a 100 feet up) is another circle of seats. At the very top is a standing only area. The stage was nothing special, Mike was on a raised podium to the left with his keyboards, the drummer (who was the drummer?) at the back and the two guys in the horn section at the rear right. Mark and Jacko were in the flat in the front center and right. The lighting was pretty standard, lots of Vari-lights arranged around a hexagonal screen at a 45 degree angle. At 7.30 the support band came on (I only caught part of their name, "Skinny" something...), they were quite good. It was about 8.45 when the house lights went down and the intro music started, Mark had his bass with the LED's on the neck. A big cheer went up and the whole of the floor area audience stood up (and never sat down again for the the whole gig!). Here is the song list: Hot Water Forever Now The Sun Goes Down Mr Pink One In A Millon World Machine Model Friend Kansas City Milkman Heaven In My Hands It's Over Love In A Peaceful World Running In The Family Lessons In Love Something About You ------- All Over You Chinese Way The setlist is different to the one posted for the Brighton gig. It sounded like they were going to play "Love Games" as the first encore number but after a few bars Mark went into a bass frenzy and it changed to "All Over You". Mark didn't say a whole lot between numbers, just the usual things ("Hello London"....). The only mention that this was the last gig was when he said something like "thanks for coming to say goodbye to us". I was hoping that the gig would have been filmed but there was no evidence of this. I did notice that they had microphones to pick up the audience, they may have been taping the concert. At the end the guys went off in a line, heads bowed. All in all a great concert, I wish they had played a few numbers ("Love games, "42" etc) but I have no complaints.
