Subject: Level 42 Digest, #82 ===================== * LEVEL 42 DIGEST * ===================== Digest 82 Wednesday, 02/16/94 Today's topics: New Single out Newbie on the list ! Forever Now ------------------------------ From: "Lars-Ove Karlsson" Organization: IAR SYSTEMS AB Date: Tue, 15 Feb 1994 13:42:53 CET Subject: New Single out Today I've got my hands on the new cd-single Forever Now. As "always" there's a new logo and this one is a little hard to recognize but then so was the Guaranteed Single. A quick listening to the title track Forever Now it seems that Level 42 has chosen to go back to their earlier style. The other tracks I only had the chance to scan through very quickly but since they are all remixes of the same track, All Over You, you can't really say anything about the sound. And here is the info on the CD-single for Lazlo and all other interested: CDS: (74321190272 UK 1994) BMG Forever Now (Radio Edit) 3:59 All Over You (Pharmacy Dub) 7:29 All Over You (Mother Slap 'n' Tickle Mix) 5:50 All Over You (Full On Instrumental Mix) 6:27 Forever Now is taken from the forthcoming album Forever Now. Apparently there is a 12" of this single, but the record store didn't have it. Anyway, it's good to have them back. -- e-mail: love @ iar.se Murphy's laws on technology: All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door. ------------------------------ From: mp @ oasis.icl.co.uk (Michael Pye) Date: Tue, 15 Feb 1994 15:25:04 +0000 (GMT) Subject: Newbie on the list ! Seeing as I am a new subscriber to this list, I though I would take Erics advice and introduce myself. I've been a fan of Level 42 since about '88 when I first saw their 'Live at Wembley' video. Since then I've got to know most of their music and also managed to see them live twice, once in Manchester and once in Leeds. I only learnt about this list a few days ago when I enquired on rec.music.misc about the current status of Level 42. (I looked at lists of mailing lists but never seen this one, oh well.) I hadn't heard of anything from L42 since _Guaranteed_ (91 ?), and was surprised to learn that they have an album forthcoming and a single was actually released yesterday ! (14th Feb). So off I shot down to the local music store and there was the new single, _Forever Now_. AND they had sold out of it on CD ! So I searched a few other stores and managed to grab a copy of it on CD. The new single in actually pretty good. Quite funky, and far better than _Guaranteed_. 'spose can't blame L42 for being away from the scene for so long. What with changing record companies, losing Alan Murphy and now I hear Phil Gould is back. So can someone enlighten me as to what is going on at the moment, ie the Gould brothers, what about Gary Husband etc ? Oh one last thing, is there a tour to go with the new album ?! Cheers for listening, Michael Pye -- --- Jedi. mp @ oasis.icl.co.uk, m.a.pye @ bradford.ac.uk ... Do or do not. There is no try. ------------------------------ From: "Lars-Ove Karlsson" Organization: IAR SYSTEMS AB Date: Wed, 16 Feb 1994 07:51:39 CET Subject: Forever Now Now I've had some time to listen to the new single, and right now it plays in the background and I'm can't sit still to write this down. Forever Now is easily recognized as a Level 42 song, it didn't take too long for me to start humming along. All Of You is more of a "disco" song, at least this mixes, maybe there is an "unmixed" version on the 12". That said, it's a better mix than the one on Overtime Lorimer Mix. By the way, the single is in a yellow cover with the new logo centered in a rounded rectangle, so now you know what to look for. -- e-mail: love @ iar.se Thought for the day: Anatomy (n): something everyone has, but which looks better on a girl. -- Bruce Raeburn.
