Kadel" Date: Thu, 13 Oct 1994 09:42:28 -0400 (EDT) Subject: "Guaranteed" Hola, all! I was watching the _Guaranteed Live_ video this morning (thanks to Evan :-)) and thought I'd bring a question to the table which I've had on my mind for a while. Does anyone else besides me think that several of L42's songs (particularly the later hits) are based upon the chord progressions, rhythms, etc. of earlier hits? OF COURSE I still like the new hits, so pardon me if this seems like a bit of a critical question. For example, doesn't it seem like "Guaranteed" was based much in part on a (sort-of) amalgam of "Lessons in Love" and "Something About You"? Mark's eighth/double-sixteenth note slapping is reminiscent of L.i.L., while the harmonized "Ooh" intro definitely reminds me of S.A.Y. I can't think of any other examples right now, except that I remember that the chord progession for the chorus of "Lasso the Moon" is the same exact progression of another song (which I can't think of here in this computer lab without having my CD's around). If I remember it later I'll post another note. Anyone else got any other thoughts on this? See ya! Brighton Dome is an ancient semi circular indoor bowl type of a theatre. It was packed out totally, and we had no way of finding the seats; but everyone in the place wasn't sitting anyway, they were all jumping about and dancing instead :-) Yet another totally excellent party (even the 80 year old doormen were bopping around by the end of the gig :):) >From what I remember they played the following; (if there are errors/ommisions then I'm sorry;-) Hot Water/Forever Now Mr. Pink The Sun Goes Down Kansas City Milkman One In A Million World Machine It`s Over Love In A Peaceful World Leaving Me Now Running In The Family Lessons In Love Something About You 1st Encore : Heaven in My Hands 2nd Encore : Chinese Way/All Over You I _really_ tired , but happy.
