Re: Level 42 Digest, #202 Best album? ------------------------------ From: dcrowson @ amoco.com (David Crowson) Date: Fri, 30 Sep 94 12:14:35 BST Subject: The Line Up Ok, now I've finished crying...NOT, I can tell yuo who the lineup was; Bass, vocals......Mark King Keyboards, vocals Mike Lindup Drums ............Gavin Harrison Guitar, vocals....Jakko Jaksyzk Trumpet...........John Thirkell Sax...............Gary Barnacle There, 'scuse me while I nip out and get some more Kleenex, sniff, sob,sob ------------------------------ From: dcrowson @ amoco.com (David Crowson) Date: Fri, 30 Sep 94 12:21:56 BST Subject: Mark's joke When the 1st encore happened, Jakko came out on stage, thinking he was being followed by the rest of the band, but they didn't come out; he was left th ere on his own. Mark was foolin' around, playing a joke on him. That's the kind of spirit that prevailed at the concert. Kinda like the band were relaxed , havi ng a good time etc., But then they always did give this impression. For some strange reason they all had white surgoens uniforms on ,and MK referred to the other band members as 'the medical crew' ?? ------------------------------ From: "Robert S. Anyway, I'm as sorry as everyone else to hear that this is the end. Change of subject: could the two Norwegians who are on the list please write to me and tell me who they are? I'm hopefully going to be living in Norway for nine months or so next year, and I've got some questions. :) Thanks! (Tusen takk!) Rob Kadel ------------------------------ From: Evan Daum Date: Fri, 30 Sep 94 9:21:00 PDT Subject: No more Level 42......Nooooooo! Oh no! I never got to see them live, and no I guess I NEVER will. Drats! Is there any talk of a video or live album from this tour? If not, I BEG anyone who is going to see them to try and tape the show. I know this may be against most people's morals, but if you are a kind soul, just think of us here in the US who will never see them. I will pay anyone who'd be willing to do this quite a bit since I would pay to see them in a second if they ever came here. Perhaps a call to there management by the administrator of this list is in order. Maybe we could convince Crockford to distrubute a tape from their final tour amongst the mailing list fans in the US and elsewhere they aren't touring. Ok, maybe this is a dream, but I don't suppose it'd hurt to try. Oh well, I am very, very sad to hear they are breaking up. Actually, are they just not going to tour, or are they never going to record again either? This really disturbs me because I think Forever Now is one of their best albums, so obviously they were not out of good ideas. This is indeed a sad day. -Evan ------------------------------ From: BobC971 @ aol.com Date: Fri, 30 Sep 94 12:35:37 EDT Subject: Re: Level 42 Digest, #202 Say it ain't so. ------------------------------ From: "Robert S. I imagine that this question may have been asked before I joined the list, but with the inclusion of Forever Now, the results may have changed. Although I think Forever Now is a terrific album, I'd have to rate it second. I still prefer True Colours. What does everyone think? Rob Kadel Department of Sociology Emory University
