A safer bet is to dig out some old magazines. Guitarist Sep '91: transcribed bass lines of Love Games, Last Chance, Children Say and part of The Essential. Guitarist Nov '91: Bass lines for Are You Hearing (What I Hear) ?, People, The Machine Stops and Dance On Heavy Weather. Guitarist Jan '92: Bass lines for True Believers, Kansas City Milkman, There Is A Dog and Mr Pink. I don't have these issues, but would like a copy of the articles if someone have them. Oh, and Jakko will be the guitar player on the UK tour. -- e-mail: love @ iar.se Murphy's laws on technology: Work smarder and not harder and be careful with your speling. ------------------------------ From: BobC971 @ aol.com Date: Tue, 23 Aug 94 09:51:25 EDT Subject: Re: Music books All, There are several Level 42 music books that have been released in the UK. They are from the World Machine, Running in the Family, Staring at the Sun, and Level Best albums. For us in the states, these are extremely difficult to come by. I'm not even sure of their availability in England. At any rate, someone suggested that to get these books at anywhere near an affordable rate, one must right to the publishing company of these books. Unfortunately, the name of that company escapes me. Maybe someone else on the digest can help. I assume that like most of U.S., I found out about L42 from "Something about you." I had heard it a few times on MTV, but thought nothing much about it. I happen to be a bass player in a band at the time and we decided to play "Something about you", so I went out and purchased World Machine. Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was blown away by Mark King's playing. Up to this point my biggest influence to date had been Geddy Lee of Rush and Gene Simmons of KISS (Don't ask to explain this influence, its a long story). Needless to say I had my work cut out for me trying to learn this track and also set up the synth-bass sequencer. Thank goodness I still have great hearing. After getting World Machine I searched frantically for any L42 I could find. I ended up special ordering many of the CDs that are now available domestically, and spent many, many, hours in my room learning the bass parts! I have been waiting since 1985 to catch them on tour, but to know avail. I thought I would be able to see them in 1985 when they toured with the Thompson Twins, but they bowed out 2 days earlier to tour with Madonna. I was mad because I had seen the Thompson Twins 3 times before; however, justice was served because they couldn't play on opening night due to a rain. [MTV still showed Madonna]. I need help from any L42 fans in the San Francisco/Bay Area or for that matter anywhere. I have finally found the single 'Love in a Peaceful World', but not the album 'Forever Now' or any of the solo albums. Has anyone found the album here?
