Introduction Any Concert info? ------------------------------ From: "Lars-Ove Karlsson" Organization: IAR SYSTEMS AB Date: Mon, 15 Aug 1994 14:21:44 CET Subject: All Over You 12" double promo I've got the promo last friday, as you may now, it contains 7 remixes of All Over You. Four of them has been released before: Mother Slap 'n' Tickle Mix, Pharmacy Dub, Full On Instrumental and Instrumental. The "New" mixes are: Mother Dub, K-Klass Vocal Mix and K-Klass Club Instrumental Mix. I must say that I'm having some difficulties in distinguishing the different instrumental mixes. The K-Klass vocal mix uses the Full On Instrumental version but contains (Tadaa!) lyrics. Mother dub is quite different from the other Mother version while still using the same sounds, I like this one. The cover is white background with large black letters : K-KLASS and MOTHER remixes of All Over You. Level 42. There's also a CD single promo containing the Mark King and Steve Anderson remix. I'll have to wait another month to get that one. -- e-mail: love @ iar.se Murphy's laws on technology: If you can't understand it, it's intuitively obvious. ------------------------------ From: Elson "?" Look what I found in rec.music.makers.bass.... >I saw an advertisement in a local-ish music shop about a month ago >for a bass player for Level 42 - "must be a good slapper" (it seemed >genuine). Having read an interview in which Mark King said he played >guitar as well as bass on their latest album (Level 42 being down to >2 members now), it seems that Mark wants to play guitar rather than >bass for their upcoming tour. >-- >jonathan @ mantis.co.uk == Jonathan Egre' at Mantis Consultants, Cambridge, UK -- 30 -- ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: E l s o n T r i n i d a d _______________________________ etrinida @ scf.usc.edu /_____________ / University of Southern California /_____________ / Los Angeles, California I'm a cynic, which means that I have a much more positive view of the world than others do. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ------------------------------ From: "Robert S. I heard "Something About You" on the radio about six years ago, and remembering how much I liked the song over the years, I decided to go buy whatever album it happened to be on. At the store I found Staring at the Sun, and as it was (then) most recent, I figured I'd buy it. Long story short: I loved it. Over the next year or so I made it my mission to buy every L42 tape I could. Recall that _Running in the Family_ has a list of the bands other US releases. So I started ordering. Later I found almost all the tapes I had not ordered in a Camelot in Atlanta (although I didn't live here at the time -- just visiting). I also bought the _Live at Wembly_ video. Then, about four and a half years ago I got my first CD player. Of course, my first purchase was a L42 CD, Level Best. I then proceded to buy every L42 CD I could find. After two more years I had found all the US releases. The big break came when I studied in London for a semester in 1992. I was able to buy _The Early Tapes_ (on CD) as well as the Platinum Edition of RitF, _Guaranteed_ (which had not been released in the US yet). Also, I was able to fulfill a long-running dream - I actually got to see them in concert. And I was six feet from the stage, and about 10 feet from Mark King! Most incredible experience there. I returned to Europe last year and picked up the UK release of World Machine and _The Remixes_, and am now impatiently waiting for an import dealer to get _Forever Now_. I must add, that I became an avid bass player specifically because of Mark King. My parents are both musicians, so I had fooled around with guitars, keys, drums, singing, etc. all my life. But it was not until I realized what an incredible musician Mark King is (indeed, as all L42 members are) that I really began to study bass. Now my favorite passtime is trying to recreate his licks. I know, more or less, about half the songs I've got, and the other half should only take me another six years! Well, I hope I haven't sputtered on for too long here. Good to be on the list and I hope to have some interesting discussions with everyone over the years! I was just wondering whether any of you were fortunate enough to actually attend one of the band's concerts in Europe? If so, could you tell us about it? Thanks! Oh, btw, I got my CD's (Forever Now, and The Early Tapes) from CDEurope 2 days ago, and got another shipment from Audiophile Imports (Mark King's Influences, Mike Lindup's Changes (which was only available on tape), and True Colours) today. I feel so much better now! Forever Now is really good, better than Guaranteed IMO, it's a lot more reminiscent of their old sound, but if you really want old sound, get the Early Tapes, the instrumentals are top notch. I received the Audiophile Imports delivery at work today, so I haven't listened to it yet, but I'll tell you guys what I think when I do. Boy, being a Level 42 fan can sure get expensive. Does anyone have the lyrics to the Forever Now cd? My cd didn't have the lyrics on them, maybe one of you who got a funky foreign version (i.e. Japanese) were able to get the printed lyrics? Just FYI, here's the address and number of Audiophile Imports, I got their number off the Level 42 fanclub newsletter, and they sent me the shipment in about a week, so their pretty good, and their selection of Level 42 stuff is really good. Audiophile Imports PO Box 4801 Lutherville, MD 21094-4801, USA (410) 628-7601 - they do phone orders and accept credit cards (I used my VISA with em). Hmm, this got a lot longer than it was supposed to. -Augustin ------------------------------------------------------------------ Augustin Chan (aug @ ucsd.edu) 'it's difficult to live life in a cage with no bars, basically because everyone thinks it's an invitation to just come in and sit down and eat my pop tarts.' -spondee
