Unfortunately, it doesn't look as if Level 42 are going to be playing here anytime soon - unless they open for someone. RCA/BMG refuses to push, or release, their new album - Forever Now here in the states. It really is a shame because the new album is fantastic. But the record company knows it all I guess. I guess we're all wrong. The good news is there are quite a few of us who have rare recordings, including myself. Let me know if you would like copies of anything that you can't get a hold of yourself. But Greyhoud's cheaper and some of us are almost poor. I'd hate to think that I'd actually have to watch MTV to get any Level 42 US tour dates, but since they aren't even releasing _Forever Now_ in the US, I doubt that they will tour the US. Perhaps we American fans ought to write a letter asking L42 to come to the US? :) -- Mark E Daniel (Loving SysOp of The Legend BBS) Inet: mark @ legend.akron.oh.us "To the world he was the master/His landscapes medaniel @ delphi.com (Direct INet)filled the gallery halls/Now he painted only portrits/Framed upon his private walls/For a kinder eye to see us not as we are but as we dream" [Level 42 "A kinder eye"] ------------------------------ From: Elson "?" I just bought this CD a couple of days ago. The Edit version fades out before the 2nd section ("Transmit and receive...") comes in. I'm just so used to hearing the 7 minute album version! The "Old Skool Mix" sounds cool. It's got a more R&B, Chuckii Booker type feel to it. My only complaint is that they butchered the chorus: Ego and pride The great divide I was but I'm not crazy now The tears we cried I want love in a peaceful world... (The "Don't multiply.." part got cut off). Also, they eliminated the bridge entirely and replaced it with a funky organ solo, but I believe it was performed by the remixer and not Mike or Wally. :( "The Bends" begins with a funky, laid-back acid jazz feel. Then it launches into this dark, Staring-At-The-Sun-Era section (nobody knows, nobody knows) with Mike singing low vocal stuff, which sounds odd, since you expect Mark to sing in that range. Then it goes back into the acid jazz section, then ends with some bluesy version of the acid jazz section. I have mixed feelings about this tune, as you can tell. "Heart On The Line" sounds like a cross between "The Sun Goes Down," "You Can't Blame Louis" and "I Sleep On My Heart." This one should have been on the album, though it would seem out of place. BTW, does anyone know what they are saying in the chours? "Sakumea Sakumi" ? What the hell is that? If any of you are in the southern California area, the 2 CDs (The one with the Old Skool Mix and the one with the old tracks) can be found at Virgin Megastore in Hollywood (Sunset & Crescent Heights, I'm also sure the Megastore in Orange County has this too) and Aron's Records Import section (Highland, bet Santa Monica and Fountain) in Hollywood. Both cost $9.99 or so. Get the first one, of course! Elson p.s. Did any of you who bought the LIAPW single fill out the RCA information card? I wonder if I should do that, especially since RCA would get feedback from an American L42 fan.
