Okay...here it comes...my first post to the Level-42 mailing list.

Hello, everyone!  Just another US fan who heard "Something About
You" back in 1985 and scooped up _World Machine_. I later copied
_Running in the Family_ from a friend.  First time I liked EVERY
song on an album at first listen, and that went for both releases. 
It truly frightened me--I was almost afraid to buy any more for
fear I'd meet a L42 song I didn't like!  ;)

Well, I was brave yesterday and bought my first CD, _Level Best_,
and aside from disappointment at some of the shortened versions of
songs I liked every new song I heard and am once again impressed
with Mark King's playing.  I see that there are at least 9 CDs that
I still need to purchase but I'm looking forward to it.

I simply CANNOT understand why they're not more popular here!  Tis
a crime!  When I describe the group to other people, I say
"Remember the clown in the video 'Something About You'?"  That
always jogs one's memories, but I've met few people that are really
informed about the group.  The FAQ helped me a lot (thanks to all
the contributors) because I was unfamiliar with their history.  I
didn't know the group had been in existence for so long!  If L42
decides to hit the States but doesn't come to LA, I'll be more than
willing to fly to wherever to see them perform (wanna come with,
Elson?  I graduated from SC c/o 1986, BSEE).  I think they're worth
it!

That's all I wanted to say for now.  I know I have a lot of
catching up, buying and listening to do.
