Subject: Level 42 Digest, #62 ===================== * LEVEL 42 DIGEST * ===================== Digest 62 Tuesday, 12/21/93 Today's topics: It's official: Gary Husband has left Level 42 Shep Pettibone ------------------------------ From: etrinida @ scf.usc.edu (Elson Trinidad) Date: Mon, 20 Dec 1993 12:53:25 -0800 (PST) Subject: It's official: Gary Husband has left Level 42 I was just talking to my band's drummer and he informed me that he heard in a dummer's magazine that Gary Husband left Level 42...over a year ago! He told me that Husband left Level 42 because it was "too restricting" for him, and was most likely put off by having to play to a sequencer most of the time during gigs. Husband has since re-joined Allan Holdsworth's band. I recalled a blurb on this mailing list a few months ago about Phil Gould playing on L42's new album, and I guess this news is true, because of Husband's departure. Elson P.S. I picked up Level 42: The Remixes last week at the import section of a local record store...Pretty good stuff, especially if you're a musician and play L42's songs...they mute tracks in the remixes so you can learn different parts exactly. Something interesting of note: Shep Pettibone did the remixes for "Something About You" and "Lessons In Love." Pettibone is also the producer and main songwriter behind Madonna's "Erotica" album...Possible connection? Remember, L42 opened for Madonna back in '87 here in the U.S. ------------------------------ From: eric (Eric J. He has a very recognizable "dance/techno" style (*not* techno like what is popular now - much more minimal, like Madonna's "Vogue", which Pettibone did). I know he's done stuff for Pet Shop Boys, too. After Lazlo gets this message, maybe he'll supply us with a Pettibone discography! (or... create one if it doesn't exist?!) Eric
