Subject: Level 42 Digest, #44 ===================== * LEVEL 42 DIGEST * ===================== Digest 44 Sunday, 10/17/93 Today's topics: Fan Club newsletter ------------------------------ From: Scott Travis Date: Sat, 16 Oct 93 22:57:48 EST Subject: Fan Club newsletter Hello again Level 42 fans! At Elson's request I am supplying a summary of the last newsletter of the Level 42 Fan Club. By the way, there doesn't appear to be any fancy name for this; both issues I've received simply say "Level 42" and "Newsletter". The latest issue is "Summer 93" (northern hemisphere summer). First, it was decided to go back to three issues per year to keep production costs down. Unfortunately, there will be no touring in the UK until January. The good news is that a couple of singles and an album will be released in early 1994! :) Mark's solo album "Influences" has been re-released in the UK: CD album Polydor 832 088-2 Paul Crockford is reported to be "unpleasantly surprised" about the "On A Level" compilation album. It appears that noone knew about the release within the L42 group. The Fan Club had a competition for members. You had to name all six guitarists who have played with L42. Out of the correct answers, first prize will be an electric bass signed by Mark King! Sorry, but the deadline was 1st September. There are several letters from fans around the globe. Most ask about the activities of current and past members of the band. Also, one letter asked about the aforementioned "On a Level" release and Paul Crockford's response was printed. Paul reportedly believes the compilation was badly put together "including old photos and appalling sleeve notes." There are lots of colour photos of the band and management. Now, apart from the newsletter, one of the best things that I received after joining was a little booklet on L42s history. It covers 10 years (1980-90) and I found it very interesting. Lots of good pics and good info. The newsletter is small, but I believe that if more people joined (and maybe even introduce family/friends/etc. to the group) it would be bigger. Of course, the new album in 1994 and, hopefully, lots of touring will provide some good bits of news too. If there is a demand for it, I may be able to provide a summary when the next issue arrives. For now, cheers! -- Scott Travis VK7ST / KB5GEO _--_|\ "This is my security chief, University of Tasmania / \ Lieutenant Worf."
