Subject: "On the Level" vs. "Level Best"

I can't quite figure out why they released *both* of these albums.  They're
both compilations, and even have three of the same songs on them.  (Neither,
however, is that great of a representation of all the bands work).  They
were both released the same year, but by different labels.  The only thing
I can figure is that it has something to do with one being on Polydor
(Level Best), and the other being on Pickwick Music.  Anyone have any
other ideas?

p.s.... does anyone know if there are videos to any other songs than the
ones on "Level Best" (VHS)?

Level Best is obvious, as a kiss-off label best-of . . . what puzzles me is
why Pickwick decided to license out the tracks and release On The Level.
(No reason why Polydor would say no, as it made them money without them
having to do any real work.)  Single edits aside, it's very close to a
straight reissue of Staring At The Sun (only three tracks from SATS
*don't* appear on On The Level).  Very strange.

Not like I'm complaining, mind you . . . I'm always up for another CD with
old L42 remixes on it. :-)

I'm studying computer science at University of Oslo, Norway.
I've been a fan of Level 42 since 1986, and have by now all their CDs
and some singles.

Have anyone on this list seen "this years" compilation album:
`On A Level' (No not `On THE Level') released by Karusell?

If not I will post tracklistings etc. to this list.
In my opinion, is this an better compilation than `On The Level'.
