I was at a privately owned music store yesterday (they always have way better stuff than the mall-franchise stores) and I saw two Level 42 works that I hadn't seen before. One was called Level 42: The Remixes. I wasn't too particularly interested in that one. There was another one, however, called On the Level. It had a lot of songs from Staring at the Sun, and some from Running in the Family, and then a bunch I didn't recognize. They could possibly be from an album previous to Pursuit of Accidents (I don't have any of those) but if they're unreleased or b-sides or something, can anybody recommend it? It was an $18 import (ouch) so I wanna check what everybody else thinks of it before I grab it. -- Alpha ->Friendship | Stacey Ross - Senior, Electrical Engineering Phi ->Leadership | University of Louisville, Louisville, KY. There's nothing unreleased on On The Level, but there are some single edits and remixes that aren't listed as such on the back cover. The only pre-Pursuits material is "Wings Of Love," which actually predates their signing to Polydor. I like the disc but it's a little heavy on material from "Staring At The Sun." CD: 1989 UK (Pickwick Music PWKS 4078 P) Heaven In My Hands (7" version) / Two Hearts Collide / Staring At The Sun / Almost There (remix) / Wings Of Love (7" version) / Tracie (7" version) / Man / Take A Look / Weave Your Spell (7" version) / World Machine (shep pettibone mix) / I Don't Know Why / I Sleep On My Heart (remix) / Dream Crazy / Standing In The Light / Last Chance / Are You Hearing (What I Hear?) The Remixes is probably a better buy if you're trying to get material that hasn't appeared on CD before. -- Lazlo (lazlo @ unm.edu)
