They may not really be words, but rather incantations derived by > Mark. I have the studio version of Foundation and Empire on side B of the Starchild 12 inch single :-) I'll try and get the lyrics down sometime. I also have the 12" of The Sun Goes Down, and The Chinese Way. The former has "Why Can't I Walk You Home" (or something like that) on the B side and the latter has "88" live. I bought these the instant I found them (3 years ago), and haven't seen them for sale ever again. I baulked at buying the ThunderThumbs 12" because it was 20UKP (something approaching 35 dollars, or thereabouts). Ho hum... --Chris ------------------------------ From: Stacey A. Ross Date: Fri, 24 Sep 93 12:18:11 EDT Subject: Hi there. Hey all. I am a huge Level 42 fan and it's good to see some others out there who have heard more songs than just "Something About You." I loved that song, but never got deep into the band until I took a summer trip to Spain. "Running in the Family" was playing in every discoteca from Madrid to Torremolinos and I loved that song too so I bought Running in the Family. >From there I just sort of bloomed and grabbed every Level 42 album I could get my hands on, including two I didn't particularly like (Staring at the Sun and In the Pursuit of Accidents). I had Guaranteed imported from the UK several months before it was released here (much to my surprise and dismay) and so far it's been my favorite album. I'm also a big Allan Holdsworth fan, and since he did more than a little guitar on Guaranteed, it was sort of an ideal album for me. One of the things that I love about Level 42 is the general sense of "groove" that pervades every one of their songs. Also, the ambiance of each song tends to be set by Mark King's tremendous bass virtuosity, and enforced by Lindup and Badarou's technological wizardry. Mark King is a great vocalist, too. Hm... maybe it's not so much that he's a GREAT vocalist as it is that his voice fits almost every song perfectly. I play keyboard myself, and enjoy figuring their stuff out by ear. My latest project is "She Can't Help Herself" which is easy and standardized but sounds wonderful anyway. Has anybody put together any transcriptions of particular songs? -- Alpha ->Friendship | Stacey Ross - Senior, Electrical Engineering Phi ->Leadership | University of Louisville, Louisville, KY.
