Subject: Level 42 Digest, #1 ===================== * LEVEL 42 DIGEST * ===================== Today's topics: Welcome! Dominic Miller Your inventory... ------------------------------ From: eric Date: Wed, 18 Aug 93 15:35:23 Subject: Welcome! Howdy, folks... well, this looks like edition **1** of the LEVEL 42 DIGEST mailing list! Since I'm the so-called proprietor of this group, and this is the numero uno message to be listed, allow me to mention a few things about this list and myself. I've been an active Internet/Usenet user for about 4 years now. I currently subscribe to 6 different mailing lists, 4 of which are music-oriented. One of my all time favorite bands has been Level 42, and I've been continually disappointed that there was never a mailing-list for it. So, I finally just decided to "sit down and create one". I don't really have any idea how other people do these things, but I've programmed mine in the C language and used C Shell scripts to do alot of the control and the actual mailing. I've based our list roughly on the format of some other lists which I subscribe to. As for myself, I'm a 22 year old male living in Boston, MA, U.S.A. Right now, I'm employed as a software developer/network administrator for a company which is part of Beth Israel Hospital and Harvard Medical School. I graduated in May, 1992 from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York with a double major in cognitive science and psychology. In my spare time, I jog, lift weights, play keyboard (have a Korg M1), roller-blade, drink beer and listen to . Other than Level 42 (!!), some of my other favorite bands include Kraftwerk, Vangelis, Steely Dan, Robbie Robertson, Thomas Dolby, Chick Corea / RTF, Steve Winwood / Traffic, Steve Miller, Jean Michel Jarre. Too many to list, I guess. I am on "mailing lists" for the first three artists I just mentioned. I have all of Level 42's albums on CD except for "The Early Tapes", as well as several albums, singles, tapes and videos. For those of you who didn't already know, there's a fantastic discography of Level 42's work at the anonymous FTP site . Poke around there for a while - there's tons and tons of great information on thousands of bands. Well, I don't want to be too much of a hog, so I'll close this message up. Enjoy the list!! Eric Hansen ------------------------------ From eric Wed Aug 18 17:47:16 1993 Subject: Dominic Miller Hey all, I just saw on the newsgroup that a Dominic Miller is playing guitar on tour with Sting. Is this the same guy who plays on "Guaranteed"? If so, then I'm amused since I always thought that a few of those songs sounded vaguely "Sting-ish"... most notable the last track (the name escapes me.) Oh well, just trying to make conversation here! Eric ------------------------------ From etrinida @ scf.usc.edu Wed Aug 18 22:40:43 1993 Subject: Your inventory...
